"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You have to use the Exchange management shell and run Get-GlobalAddressList | Update-GlobalAddressList

Also try the command from the following technet article from MShttps://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb266966(v=exchg.141).aspx
If you want to use windows powershell instead of Exchange management shell then follow the article from technet and www.codetwo.com

Looks like you are not using EMS or Exchange management shell. First you type just get-globaladdresslist and check the result. Then pipe update command. Review this article from another EE.
