Can you select Windows 8 or 7?

I did select Win 8 but that did not resolve the problem.

Googling "this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way" atibtmon.exe, I come up with several sites to uncheck "Enable the Vari-Bright" but I have not been able to find that setting.

did not help, I don't have "AMD Vision ECS" in my right click menu of the desktop.

I had already added the value suggested to the registry - no change

driver version: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 series

I uninstalled the Catalyst Control Center and reinstalled the Win 8 version. Looks like the problem is solved. I'll give it some more time to be sure.

The problem is still there. It occurs whenever I unplug or plug in the power adapter for the laptop.

I tried reverting back to Win 7 but the computer wouldn't run properly on that either. I had to do a clean install of Win 7 to get the computer to work.

I am not going to upgrade to Win 10 on any computer again. I don't care if it is a free upgrade.

Thanks for your halp.
