Tool for evaluating tech approaches

We're trying to methodically evaluate two possible approaches to protecting data from leaving our network (data loss prevention, in concept). Is there some fairly simple tool or template that I can use to compare the two options? I'm thinking of something that would have pros and cons, ask questions about support requirements etc.... high level and simple. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Working for Accenture, we would often be asked to evaluate software packages for clients based on their enterprise requirements. I would know and understand what you want your software to do,  and then represent it in a format like the attached document.  Evaluate against your requirements.

I found this template online, but it is large and robust. You can probably pick pieces out of it and use what you need. Discard what is irrelevant.

Good luck!
