Screenshot attached. One outlook has two send buttons, default installation shows only one. How does that happen? (get two send buttons)

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hmm sorry thought I attached it

I see. It looks like something applies ribbon customizations. Try to run Outlook in safe mode (outlook.exe /safe) to make sure this is not the add-in that messes with your ribbon.

Go to Customize Ribbon and check if there are two Send buttons added. Remove one.

You can also remove Send (Send/Receive) and see if both go away. Then restart the computer, open Outlook and add it back. I remember you could wind up with 2 Send icons (years ago) and this how I recall solving it.
stlhostAuthor Commented:
The custom ribbon I'm not concerned about. Look at the outlook on the right and compare to the one on the left where I have circled them in yellow. One has two buttons for send, the other only has one.
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
Customize Ribbon is for changing buttons so please look there and check as I suggested.
stlhostAuthor Commented:
Yes there are two, if I remove them the two send buttons still exist. Which is fine I dont mind that they are there Ive had requests from users for two of them. And that's my question how are two are them there? new screenshot attached

The second picture is clearer.

The SEND button in the message form is normal and should be there.

The other button is not part of Message, but rather is part of the Ribbon. Right Click the Ribbon and select Customize. In the Window that opens, choose the Command tab. In Categories (left side) choose Tools, and on the right side, remove Send. I think you must have an extra Send here.

I dug out an Outlook 2007 machine and did the above in Outlook 2007.
stlhostAuthor Commented:
Which command? I have popular commands, commands not in the ribbon, all commands.
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
Right click on the Ribbon and select Customize. This opens a Window. Make sure you see this much.

In this Window is a Command tab (3 tabs total). Make sure you see this.

Then in the Command tab, left side click on Tools. This should give you the tools in the ribbon and Send (Send/Receive) is there.

If not, there could be a problem with your Office installation and you can try Repairing it.
stlhostAuthor Commented:
These are the options I have when I right click

You are doing this in Message and it does not work there. Close your message and work with the main Outlook ribbon. Follow my instructions from there.
stlhostAuthor Commented:
No send just send/receive all

JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
You can try removing Send/Receive all and restarting to test. You can always add it back.

You appear to have a problem with the Office installation.

On balance, it may not be worth worrying about. The plain Send icon in the message window is correct and use can use it. Ignore the other one.
stlhostAuthor Commented:
Removed but now the send/receive is gone from tools. This doesn't appear to make any changes to the new message form but the actual outlook client drop down menus, such as file view edit tools actions help. It is trivial I know but I been asked to research it as my users are hitting the paste button to often. This particular outlook client is unique.

Try restarting and adding the Send / Receive  button back. This may fix it.

The plain button in the message window (beside TO) is fine and correct. Do not try to tamper with it.

John, you can't customize Outlook 2007 ribbon in an easy way (like in Outlook 2010+).
I still suggest to try to run outlook.exe /safe
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
I have easily customized Outlook 2007 the way I suggested. I ran it to test.
Alexei KuznetsovMicrosoft Outlook MVPCommented:
Hard to believe. You can't event "Right click on the Ribbon and select Customize" to customize anything other than QAT (in Inspector). And there is no "main ribbon" in Outlook 2007: only good old toolbar for the Explorer.
But you can customize the ribbon using add-in and this is why I suggest to "outlook.exe /safe" first.
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
I know how this works because I had 2 Send/Receive buttons one time, and I repaired it as above.

Outlook 2007 is dead and I do not spend much time with it, but I was able to make it work to my way of thinking.
stlhostAuthor Commented:
Duplicate send button is gone in safe mode. How did it get there or how do I remove it?

JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
After Safe Mode, exit, shut down, start up, open in Normal Mode. Any change?

You can try an Office 2007 Repair to see if the buttons get fixed that way.  There seems to be some Office / Outlook damage.
Alexei KuznetsovMicrosoft Outlook MVPCommented:
There will be no change. And you don't need to repair.

Safe mode showed that you have the add-in that adds this "Send" group to your ribbon (because the only thing this mode does it disables all addins temporarily). Now you need to start Outlook and disable the add-ins one by one to find which one adds this button.

Thanks, it was an addin. Sorry for accepting so late
