Local admin account get locked server 2008 R2

Hi everyone,

I have a server 2008 R2 that is not member of a domain. From another server, I monitor every servers that I have with their local administrator account.

There is one that every 30 min or so, it says that I have a bad password or username. I have to log into the server (With another admin account), and reset the administrator password to get it back working.

All the tool that I find are for domain. Is there something else that could help me to find the problem ?

Thank you,

Guillaume

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can use Local Policy and enable Auditing and in the security logs you will be able to check and see where this is being locked out from.

It is already enable, when the account stops working, i get an audit failure from the server trying to monitor it.  Unknown user name or bad password.

If I remove the monitoring, all I have are Audit success. Unless i try to log with the administrator account, or put it back in monitoring, then I have Failure.

In the "local users and groups", the account doesn't even seem disabled. Everything looks fine, but I have to reset the password to make it work for 30 minutes...

have you tried to create a new local admin account and use this account? Also set it so that the password does not expire or can be changed.
