Windows 10 upgrade

My OS is win 7 prof 64 bit and I have an icon for a Free upgrade to windows 10.    My question is whether I need to?  And if I do not upgrade, will I be left behind when future software updates are made for Windows 10.
My main software is centered around Office 365, PaintNet and sometimes other freewares.  My only concern is the Access 2007 version that I have on another machine, which has a mailing software called Satori software, and I am contacting Satori to find out if i should still stay with win 7 or can I upgrade to win 10.
is there any comparison of win 7 and win 10, so that I can see if I really need to worth upgrade now, or will the free offer be withdrawan when the time comes.
Thank u.

Win7 will be around for a while; there's no need to dance on the bleeding edge.  :)  Windows 7 will not be abandoned, and it'll be YEARS before you need to worry about software that works ONLY on Win10.  You can always upgrade later on down the road if and when your Satori software *requires* Win10 (if that ever happens).

Windows 10 Free Upgrades are supposed to end next summer.  You don't have to do it now, but for various reasons, you SHOULD do it before then.  Ideally, you'll test your applications on actual Win10 systems NOW (soon) so that if there is a problem you have close to a year to figure out how to work around that (or upgrade the problem software).
if you want to be able to return to windows 7 - just make an image of your disk, so you can restore it later - if windows 10 is not what you want.
Also, i suggest to wait a month or 2, so that all kids diseases can be cured first

for imaging, here a free software  :
I agree with leew, you should do the upgrade as long as it is free. The upgrade saves your old OS and you can easily return to that within 30 days after the upgrade if something doesn't work properly in Windows 10. Once you have done the free upgrade, the PC is registered and properly licensed with m$, so you can then install Windows 10 for free again later if you feel more comfortable with it then.
