Hi,  Does anyone have a good solution for adding Android Apps to the Amazon Fire TV.  There are a number of Apps available that load directly from App stores like Amazon and Google to devices other than the Fire TV device and I would like to be able to put some of them on my Fire TV device.  Thank you, Clarke

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Do you have any device running android version 4.2 or above?

Than you for your response.  I do not at this time and location.  However, i do have g-box type devices at another location.   I have done a sideload using a PC at current location using command level adb install.  The app appears in the apps management under firetv settings but just spins logo(s) and does nothing.  This is for example, the Dramafever app.

I assume that most IT people shall have an android smartphone or tablet running android 4.2 or above.

In your android phone or tablet, install the desired app and ES file explorer.

In your Fire TV, install ES file explorer. You can find ES File explorer in the amazon app store.

in the location where Fire TV is using, connect both the Fire TV and your android smartphone or tablet under the same wifi network.

Then, in the security setting of the Fire TV enable the install of app which comes from unknown sources. Open the ES File explorer app in Fire TV.

In your smartphone or tablet, open the ES file explorer app and you can transfer and send the installed app to any android device running ES file explorer app under the same wifi network. Of course, you shall disable AP isolation which disable the discovery of another wifi device in the same wifi network.

Technically, a Fire TV is an android device running a customized ROM of android 4.2.
