ADSL Modem

A relative called from a Charlotte NC suburb and said she wanted advice on which ADSL router to buy. She didn't say who the company was. She said the requirement was the the ADSL router had to handle at least 1.5Mbps down. Are there very many options in this space? What's recommended?? I understand that her provider wants to charge $6/month for the ADSL modem.

Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I doubt that there are any modems that are that slow any more.  You need to find out who the ISP is so you can find out what modems they will accept.  While some ISPs will accept 'generic' ADSL modems, I believe that AT&T still requires you to use one of their approved modems because they do part of the setup from their offices.
