I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I have SSG5 boxes at several clients and they perform very well as firewall and hardware VPN boxes. VPN supports site to site and client to site both and I use both machines. They are good cost effective machines for small businesses .   They are not anti virus boxes - I use Symantec Endpoint for that.

Big Business Goals? Which KPIs Will Help You

The most successful MSPs rely on metrics – known as key performance indicators (KPIs) – for making informed decisions that help their businesses thrive, rather than just survive. This eBook provides an overview of the most important KPIs used by top MSPs.

I have not used CheckPoint.

For Juniper, look first at the SSG-20. It is a decent price although may be more than you need. Then kook at the Juniper 5GT from that link - there are several. The SSG5 (good machine) has bad ports. The 5GT is older and support will be an issue.

So on balance, look at the SSG-20 (first item).

I did forget to ask 1 more question.

qns1.  I currently have an asa 5505 firewall with virgin media as my isp but want to know if I can use the juniper the same way or is it an 'adsl' connection  ?
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
The Juniper GUI is different than a Cisco ASA (or Cisco RVxx for that matter) but function in the same way. You can set it up as Static IP or PPPoE to make a connection. Some Juniper machines I had came in special models for direct use with ADSL, so check what you are getting.
