DL issue

Hello Experts,

One of my customers is running into some weird issues. One of the help desk representatives created a distribution group in AD 3 days ago and the DL is not being populated in Exchange, and we cannot see the distribution group in ECP, nor the GAL

Our forest/domain level is Windows 2008 R2, our Exchange infrastructure is 2013 CU8, multiple CAS behind a HLB, multiple MBX in a cross site DAG, OS for Exchange servers is Windows 2012 R2

This issue has been happening for at least 3 new distribution groups created in AD, we tried to change the scope of the group to universal , same results, no recently changes in AD or Exchange, no replication issues, we do have a single forest, single domain, 16 sites

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Please check the DL properties , Hidden option should not be checked. Also keep the Outlook in Online mode and then check if you are able to see the DL.

hidden option is not checked, outlook online, OWA, all have the same result

If you cannot see the group in ECP, then it isn't mail enabled. The hide/unhide option would have no effect on it being seen in ECP.

Sounds to me like they have created the group in ADUC and then populated it with an email address - which does NOT mail enable it.

Go through the new group wizard in ECP, choosing to use an existing group. The group should then be listed.

Simon.
