Exchange 2010 OAB not updating

Hi everyone,

My OAB is not updating. It has not updated since last 2 weeks. On the EMC, it has been set to update every night and I also manually updated it but still it is not updating in the Outlook ? Any ideas what can be done ?

You might want to re-create the OAB From the Organization>Mailbox>Offline Address Book tab

There is probably some sort of corrupting in the OAB.

Can I do that in the middle of production ? Will it have any impact or it will go smoothly ?

Better to do it after production hours, as I have seen issue of heavy traffic generated by Outlook for downloading new OAB. Better you take backup for OAB folder everyday, in case of OAB corruption  you restore old back and then update it again, that will save time in updating full OAB and also avoid Outlook traffic.

OAB is cached to the machine when the client is using cached mode in Outlook.

What I would recommend is create a new OAB set this up on a test database move a mailbox to this database and then see if the OAB updates properly. If this does then set the OAB as the default and remove the old one.

You could also do a manual push and force an update.

When I had an issue with the OAB not working, this seemed to jump start it :)

If this issue is only with a couple system you can flush out the outlook cache on the system which will re-download the address book and be up to date.
