Paperport not recognizing my Fujitsu fi-7160 on Windows 10

I just upgraded to Windows 10 and now Paperport will not recognize my Fujitsu fi-7160 scanner. I tried to upgrade the driver using the Fujitsu download but the program delivered an error message.  The scanner shows up in my devise list on Windows.

My first suggestion is to read this EE article:
PaperPort 14 in Windows 10 - A First Look

Try all of the tips in there. If it's still not working after that, let me know and I'll help you to continue troubleshooting. But I should have asked first — what version of PP are you using, including the decimal point (such as 14.0, 14.1, 14.5, etc.)? Also, is your W10 32-bit or 64-bit? Regards, Joe

Thanks for the heads-up on the 14.5 update.  I have completed the update and am able to connect to my Fujitsu scanner by the WIA interface instead of the Twain interface that I used before.  I don't know what difference it makes so as long as I can scan, I'm happy.  Like you, Paperport is a program that I have used daily for many years since I went paperless in my office a long time ago.  I just joined the Google Paperport group. Thanks again.

I'm very glad that the upgrade to 14.5 did the trick for you. You won't see any difference in PP when using WIA instead of TWAIN if the Display scanner dialog box is un-ticked in PP:

I use it un-ticked all the time, as I like one-click scanning. I set the parameters that I want in the PP profile and let the PP Scanning Manager take it from there, so I never see the native scanning dialog (ISIS, TWAIN, WIA, or WIA2). However, if you run with that box ticked, you will see a difference — you'll now see the WIA dialog instead of the TWAIN dialog. But you'll still be able to scan fine, although the WIA dialog will have fewer options than the TWAIN dialog. Regards, Joe
