Word 2013 VBA: How can I display the Office 2013 Backstage Print Interface

My firm recently moved from Office 2010 to Office 2013  I am having trouble with one of my print macros from the 2010 system.  It is working, but Word and the document crash after you select Print from the print dialog box.

I have heard that Office 2013 sometimes has problems working with the legacy dialog boxes, and this seems to be one of those cases.  The same documents will print fine if you use the backstage print interface.

My question is: how can I use VBA to call up the backstage print interface?  Everything I've read indicates that you should use this command to call the print dialog box:

However, that brings up the old rectangular dialog box.  How can I display the backstage print interface?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

here's three possibilities with varying levels of pain and gotchas:

1. simulate the key presses to get to backstage - ok when it works but easily broken if someone redefines the shortcuts
2. build your own backstage and replace the existing one - lots of ribbon development and quite painful
3. trap the DocBeforePrint event

on the surface I think you want option 3 and there's better men than me to explain it here:
