Multimode Fiber

How much data can run on a single Multi-mode Fiber.  I have several 48 port switches on a single pair of multi-mode fiber 50/125 back to the MDF.  I am curious on what the limit is.  Each switch is daisy chained to itself.  Doesn't look proper when I have more than enough direct run fiber for each one of them.

Hard answer depends on your hardware. But you could do 40 gig over mmf if it meets curtains specs. I think realistically 10gig so now your question is design. It is not uncommon to run an idf off the mdf with a single fiber run. But you would have to consider a potential failure of a given switch, how does one switch failure impact your design

The Data that can be pushed on a single multimode fiber depends on the optics connected to it. If the fiber connects to a 1 Gbps port. the throughput will be 1Gbps. if the port is 10 Gig port then you can push 10 Gpbs.

Thank you mjhangiani2 and Bryant.  I knew the limitation of the switch were a factor BUT I was just wondering on a broader scale, how much data I could put on a Fiber optic at one time if the port was unlimited (I know there not).  More of a challenge question for a idea I have in the near future.  I would think that there has to be some kind of limit.

100gb/s is possible, I assume this may go up as technology improves, but it would probably costly
