Cannot copy/paste nor drag and drop files into a folder on a Windows 7 machine


I'm trying to fix a user's computer who is running Windows 7.  For some reason, they are unable to copy/paste nor drag and drop files into a folder on a Windows 7 machine.  However, I can copy a file/folder using the command prompt.  I'm currently running Malwarebytes to see if it picks up malware.

Please provide help in fixing this problem. Thank you!

Malwarebytes is a good place to start. Next run a full AV scan.

Now some basic questions.

Has the user ever been able to drag and drop to this folder?

If so, has anything changed?

Have the user log onto another machine and see if they can drag/drop to this folder.

This will narrow it down to if it's user or machine specific.

I can copy/past and drag and drop files/folders under another user profile on his computer.

Then it's either user rights or his profile.

Have  the user try it from another machine.  If it works, then it's his profile, if it doesn't then it's a rights issue.

I was able to fix his problem.  I had to remove Tera Copy program and it fixed the problem.

My line of questions pointed to it being specific to a user's machine and I also asked if anything had changed.

Installing a 3rd part app could constitute a change and it being a specific computer.
