Is there a way to schedule a Cisco ATA 187 to restart on a regular basis?

We have several ATA 187 attached to our Cisco BE phone network for fax machines in the building.  Every week or two these need to be restarted.  Is there a way to schedule through Unity to make these units restart?

If you have a Linux system around, you can do wonders with an expect script + crontab + access to the switches where the ATAs reside. The expect script will run through all the interfaces and if it detects an ATA device through CDP neighbors, it will shut down the interface and will bring it back up again, effectively resetting the ATA.

You can also log into Callmanager > Bulk Admin Tool > Phones > Reset Phones > filter only the ATAs by device type:contains:ATA and then schedule the reset. This will work only once, it is not periodical.

So if you want to get away by resetting the adapters, I strongly suggest using an expect script. I have one of those that I created to automatically shutdown all the switchports over night, and automatically power them on at dawn, this way no IP Phones waste power for nothing.
