Web development is there a way to fill in when drop down menu moves grid

I have a accordion drop down menu in a grid and when the menu is closed it looks great next to a image in the next grid space and is the same size as the menu.  When I open the menu it pushes the grid down and the image is there and then a white space under it.  I don't want the default for the menu to be open as it takes up to much space on the page.  Is there a way to add something in that blank space in that grid so that when the menu is open the white space could have something in it?

It would only be there when the grid menu is open.

I am going to close this question.  I did not keep the original menu code and it would be too much for me to modify the code and put it here for anyone.  Thank you.
