Backup exec 2012

About two weeks ago my backup exec 2012 exceeded its diskspace when performing its configured backup. This occurred due to efforts in trying to figure out why data is not being written to tape.  Now there is no more diskspace and my primary backup is disabled. I would like to know if I can delete the diskspace and reapply the previous settings to get my backup exec server operational again. I have 2.7 TB capacity with 18mb remaining. I do not know why the full backup went from its normal size to such a large set. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd make sure that something silly --such as backing up the backup data -- isn't happening.  Check the backup specification carefully.

Then, you're best off using BE to delete older jobs, rather than doing the deletion through the OS.  Are your policies set to delete older jobs when space is needed?

And then there is the issue that you need your tape backups so you can get the data offsite.  Do whatever you need to do to get a current backup on disk, and then get your tape backups working again!

I was able to delete the disk space hoping it would allow my scheduled jobs to run. However, when trying to launch the job I received this error timeout elapse error.
