Macrium Reflect v6

We are planning on purchasing a Macrium Reflect v6 Technicians License and we're wondering if it is better to image a machine with the windows software while running windows or boot to the CD and image it there.
1. Are there any speed differences?
2. Which one do you prefer and why?
3. Also with the Macrium Reflect v6 Technicians License I assume we can backup and recover unlimited workstations.
4.  In addition, has any one tried this on a network with domains?
5. Does this work well on Windows 10 professional?
Thanks

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

1. Are there any speed differences?
As Windows Backup makes no compression - its speed is higher. But because of the same reason it will take more space on your storage drive.

2. Which one do you prefer and why?
I prefer third party backup tool because Microsoft one is not as flexible as I want. It does not have compression, it creates full+incremental chains and you cannot store separate full backups on the same drive. And third party backup tools have additionally cloning features.

3. Also with the Macrium Reflect v6 Technicians License I assume we can backup and recover unlimited workstations.
Yes, technical license means that you can use the software from a boot CD on as many machines as possible but one per time. And the software can be installed on one machine per time. If you want to have it on another machine then the previous installation must be uninstalled.

4.  In addition, has any one tried this on a network with domains?
Have not tried it but imho there must be no problem. You boot the PC from it and mount the share to which you would like create your backup or restore from it. If needed you enter the path to the storage and login/user data.
5. Does this work well on Windows 10 professional?
They say - Windows 10 compatible. And when booting from a Boot CD - there is no difference for the software if it is Windows 10 or Windows 7 on the drive.

I should rephrase my question. "We are planning on purchasing a Macrium Reflect v6 Technicians License and we're wondering if it is better to image a windows machine with Macrium Reflect V6 installed on windows or boot to the Macrium Reflect v6 CD and image it there (is there a difference?). "

Yes, there is a difference. The backup from a boot CD will take so called COLD image. Where paging file and hiberfile are empty and no VSS is used to create backup of running files.
This is considered to be the most full backup image.
But backup taken from installed version of software is also a good backup image and contains all necessary for successful recovery files and features.
The actual difference is in convenience. Either you take backup of running Windows without interrupting your work or you turn off the machine to take backup.
IMHO for you there is no difference.
