Review Database Status page unavailable - SharePoint 2013

Hi. We are running SharePoint 2103 on-premise. When trying to access the Review Database Status page in Central Admin a SQL time out is thrown. The ULS log detail indicates that the T-SQL query being generated by the page is being rejected by the SQL server [MS SQL 2012 Standard] due to resource throttling.

I've carried out a reboot of the SQL server but the issue still remains. Are you aware of any fixes that are available that could be used to resolve this issue successfully?

This issue came to light following a successfull upgrade that involved the application of a number of patches to the two front end and two application servers that we run in our farm.

Your help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Adrian Rowe

SQL Server doesn't reject web pages. A timeout means that the maximum time configured to wait for a database response was passed so the own webpage disconnect from the running database process and won't receive any return from the SQL Server.

You have two solutions:
1) - Increase the timeout value, giving the webpage more time to wait for a SQL Server response
2) - Tune the query that is executing on the database so it can executes in less time that is defined for the timeout
