Hi All

I am looking for a way to backup outlook every day, as the client is paranoid. They use exchange but have had a few issues hence the request.

Thanks

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I assume the user wants to backup their PST when you say Outlook.

Use this...Personal Folders Backup add-in,

This is for Outlook 2002/2003/2007 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/238782

This one is for Outlook 2010.  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2030523

If you are using Outlook 2010 be sure to apply the fix so that it works correctly.  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2030523

And this one is for Outlook 2010/2013 https://outlookbackupaddin.codeplex.com/

They can configure it to run automatically on a schedule.

You can backup as many PSTs as you want.

The way this works  is after you configure it, you exit Outlook and the PST files are copied where you designate....USB drive, Flash drive, Local disk, etc.

That is a great add-in but how do I open a OST file to verify, I know how to open a PST within outlook but an ost I'm not so familiar with.

Hi Scottcha Please can you tell me how I open or import an ost into an new outlook profile?

Sorry, missed your question earlier.

You can't directly open an OST file.

There are a few utilities to convert OST to PST files.  Some are free some you need to pay for.

Be sure to make a backup of your OST before running any of these.
