Data Recovery Software

I am looking for the best data recovery software available.  I have a 1 TB Western Digital external hard drive that failed.  I was able to pull the drives out and used EASEUS Data Recovery.  The files were not overwritten or damaged so it would seem that it would be a simple recovery, but all of the files that were recovered were corrupted or unusable.  I tried restoring the "RAW" format of the files also to no avail.  I am hoping that there is something that is better out there to resolve the issue.

Thank you for any information or guidance that you can provide.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Have you tried it with GetDataBack from www.runtime.org?

If the files are corrupted I doubt very much you'll have any better results with other tools. But of course the best recovery tool available is getdataback:

http://runtime.org

It can at least usually keep the folder structure intact, while most other tools have big problems with that. You can scan the disk using the trial download, but will need to register and pay for it to be able to actually be able to restore any files.

The 2nd best tool is OpenSource and free, PhotoRec/Testdisk, and both of those are included on the PCRepix LiveDVD:

You could try Spinrite (https://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm). It's not a recovery tool per se but a thorough, low-level tool that works magic on hard drives with failed sectors. If you can recover the files but they're corrupted try running Spinrite and give it another go after. I've had tremendous success recovering files that were unrecoverable by any other means.

Depending on how seriously damaged the drive is it may take a few days to complete a Spinrite run but your patience will most likely be rewarded.
