SSIS: Run 2013 package on 2008 SQL instance

I really thought--and had read so somewhere online--that I could run my SSIS package that was created through VS 2013 on a SQL 2008 R2 box.

But I'm encountering the error below.  So now I'm in full pucker, thinking that this is just not going to work.

DTSX files being XML, it just didn't seem that far out to be able to get this to run alongside all my other DTSX files.

Can someone help me get to the bottom of this?  Really need to get this working.

Yeah, I couldn't get any of the 32-bit/x64 fixes to work for me.  Nor the datetime shenanigans.

I've installed SQL 2014 on a new box and put the package there.  Runs great.
