improve search function

Hi,

I am looking for ways to improve the look for this search function with CSS.
I am not sure how to improve this as form elements seem hard to change the look of.

I dont mind if the search function with text elements are arranged differently.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

are you looking for suggestions on improving the overall design or do you need help implementing a new design?

if you're looking for suggestions, it may help to see a screen shot of the entire page so that we can have a reference point

i just need the design for the search function as I have this on many different pages.

The rest of the page hasnt been worked out but the table of results is displayed below.

I can use what I have but does someone have a better idea?

i would put the first name and last name into one field, if they're 2 fields in your database, simply split up the search query by using spaces as a separator.

I would also put the Date Range and Class Type on it's own line, as well as keeping the start/end dates on its own line.

could either the Date Range and/or Class Type fields be converted to a group of checkboxes, so that the user can select more than one?
