Cisco Stacking

Quick question on Cisco Stacking we  Currently have one Cisco 3750x Layer 3 Switch which we are looking to install a second 3750x Switch into our Network for load balancing , if we use Stacking does Stacking configure master and slave automatically and if so just like VTP does the Server Switch push the VLAN configurations to the client switch within Stacking ?

We also have a hardware Checkpoint Firewall within the Rack that is cabled to the Cisco Switch should we also cabled the firewall to the second switch for load balancing or is there a need ?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

It can.  You can also configure which switch will be the stack master.

and if so just like VTP does the Server Switch push the VLAN configurations to the client switch within Stacking ?
No really.  In stacking, there is only one config... for the entire stack.  So you don't configure each switch, you configure the stack itself.

There are limitations, depending on license type etc, that are not present on link above...
So, basically, this is just fresh documentation (with more details) for link from Don....
Cisco - 3750-X stacking IOS -12.2
Cisco - 3750-X stacking IOS -15.0
Documentation is similar, but not identical for versions 12 and 15, so you may check both.

It is pretty simple as long as the IOS is the same adding a switch in the stack is simple and can be added during production hours.   VTP config stays the same -

again as mentioned in the above post - make sure you have the correct license or you will not be able to add the switch to the stack
