Auto shutoff, iPhone 6

I recently got an iPhone6. I used to have an iPhone 4s.

On the 4s, if automatically shut down after some period of activity (5 min?).

I can't figure out how to make the iPhone 6 do that. I have to turn it off manually with the right side button (sounds like a switch click when pressed).

That's not terrible, but sounds like a backward step.

Is there a way ti do that on an iPhone 6?

Thanks

Set the Auto Lock as per above. I don't think there is any setting to auto power off (shut right down). This needs to be done manually.

Fine, how do I unlock it?

On the iPhone 4s, I just swiped that "slide to unlock".

I don't want to have to enter a password every time. Oh so maybe you are saying it works like that?

I don't want to do that until I'm sure there is no password. Don't want to get it locked & be unable to unlock because I don't know the password.

Thanks

If you have a password lock, you must enter it EVERY time you unlock and EVERY time your power up.

You can try removing the password, but the phone will bark at you. I just got used to it.

You should be able to set up Touch ID to not have to always enter in a passcode.
See here. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201371

To turn off passcode:

Settings
Touch ID & Passcode
Enter in your passcode
'Turn Passcode Off'
or
Adjust any other necessary passcode settings to your preference.

I took a chance & set lock time for 5 minutes.

It worked.

The iPhone is a smartphone made by Apple Inc. It and the iPad, along with several other mobile devices from Apple, run on the iOS operating system, which has its own topic, as does the iPad for device-specific questions. Native iOS applications are written in Objective-C or in Swift using the Cocoa Touch frameworks or HTML5 compiled with the help of a package manager such as Adobe PhoneGap; a common IDE is Xcode.
