Create a new user and give the new user admin privileges.<br />

Then log out of the current user and log in as the new user. See if that fixes the problem.<br />

If it does, go back into Users and Groups and delete the old user and its files.

Recently inherited MacBook Pro (circa 2012) &nbsp;from former employee. How do I delete Apple ID dialog from this user. When I try to update OS X to 10.10.5, Apple ID dialog box has former employee name and name cannot be deleted. Employee not available. <br />

Note that the former employee dialog box appears only (so far) when updating OS X.
