masking a sensitive information in UI

Hi

I am using bootstarp, angularjs c# mvc in my application.

I see there is some information appId whose value is e.g. $%@#$*($% which gets rendered on the page(view source).

How can I mask it and still keep it working?

This appId is used to make webservice request to third party.

Is this used from within the browser? If so masking it won't help because at some point you have to un-mask it so you can send it to the web-service.
If it is not used from withing the browser - then why is it there.

Any masking that you do that you need to undo in the browser is pointless as anyone can use the console to view the process and hence the value.

If you need the appid to go to the page so it can be returned to the server and used there then mask it on the server side using whatever process is easiest.

Are you having difficulties using  appId? Why you want to mask it?

There are other alternates to get that control/tag. You can give name or class to that control/tag and catch them using that name/class!!
