Hyper-V 2012 R2 Baseline creation

Hello, I have many clusters for Hyper-V. I need to create a baseline for them so we can compare them later to this baseline, any ideas/ documents to be useful in this?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What kind of baseline?

Performance:
+ CPU
+ Networking
+ IOPS and/or throughput

Or, Configuration:
+ CPU Pair
+ Memory
+ Storage and Storage Connectivity

SQLIO, DiskSpd, IOmeter, Exchange JETSTRESS, and there are others.

We use IOmeter for our own baseline and stress testing since disk IOPS/Throughput tend to be the bottleneck in any setup.

I see. isn't there any automated tool to do that? I'm thinking of running PAL tool to collect performance data using hyper v preset

There are a lot of vendor specific tools out there. Microsoft, Oracle, and others have tools designed to stress test systems for their setups.

I've mentioned the Microsoft based ones.

Greg Schultz has an amazing wealth of info on various tools to test all sorts of systems:  StorageIO Blog Tips and Articles page. His blog is also full of information on testing systems.
