ESXi Virtual Storage

We took down our ESXi 5.1 Host for maintenance but now it has lost the Connection to our MSA2040 SAN.
we can see the path and the volumes inside Storage Adapter but when we try to Add the Path to our Storage we are getting errors.

Call "HostDatastoreSystem.QueryVmfsDatastoreCreateOptions" for object "datastoreSystem-9" on vCenter Server "vcenter" failed.

i have uploaded some screen shots to help.

so you can see and detect the existing LUNs ?

but the VMFS datastores defined on the LUNs are not currently accessible ?

Hi Andrew,

that would be correct
okay, can you access the console (via keyboard) or remotely via SSH, to type a command ?
I can ssh into esxi i check to syslog

it was showing iscsi connection 2:0 error (1011) State 3 attempts 2
but after at the end it connected successfully
please type...

esxcfg-volume -l at the prompt.

what is the output.... you should get something like

~ # esxcfg-volume -l
VMFS3 UUID/label: 4cc89503-f054d0d4-2865-00221958e471/nas3-vmfs
Can mount: Yes
Can resignature: No (the volume is being actively used)
Extent name: naa.600140588e9bab7d2b7ed4b53dadc1de:1     range: 0 - 1048319 (MB)

and then do a ...

esxcfg-volume -m 4cc89503-f054d0d4-2865-00221958e471

or

esxcfg-volume -m nas3-vmfs

to mount the datastore.
Hi Andrew,

I came in this morning to find that esxi 5.5 was installed which overwritten the settings,

would you have any guides to best practice for add MSA 2040 San to a esxi 5.5
Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the links we had them set up since this morning but still wasn't pointing to the SAN had to contact HP support, and we were running an out of date driver in which when we updated to 6 and rolled back to 5.1 the issues started. that the SAN was no longer being picked up.

i have since updated the Drivers which has now picked up the SAN. do you know how i can import all the Vm back into Vcenter from the Storage device
