"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

ORACLE 10 g database is running on Hyper-V VM. I can only find error logged in windows event viewer which is attached. FYI VM remain on network during this time I can access it directly or through remote desktop connection. All I have to do mount databases every time.
Hope you better understand my question now.

If the issue is with the listener, look in the listener.log file.
If the issue is with the database, look in the alert log for the database.

Your DBA should be able to assist you with this.

For the default locations go to where the Oracle software is installed.  You should find a diag folder.

Under that there are two folders: rdbms and tnslsnr.

Move down through the database/instance folder.  Eventually you should see a trace folder.

Look for listener.log.

For the database there should be a file a alert_instance.log where the word instance is the instance name of the database.

If you want to upload the files, please make sure they do not contain sensitive information.
