Stacking with the Cisco SG 500 Switch

I've got a couple of Cisco SG500.  They are stacked together and work great.

We need to add another couple of switches, to replace small switches in distant corners of the factory.  I'd like them to stack with these two.

What is the cheapest Cisco switch that can stack with the SG 500?  Is there any problem when the connection to the other stackable switches goes through a 3rd party fiber connection first?  (ethernet cannot reach the distances that we have to the 'wiring" closet)

Thanks!

If you are talking about a true switch "stack" then you will only be able to stack other Cisco SG500 switches with your existing SG500 stack. Each vendor stacking is proprietary to that vendor, there is no standard. Even within the same vendor it is usually only possible to stack together models that are the same (eg. you can't stack a 2960 with a 3750).

Using fibre to stack the switches shouldn't be a problem.

Have a look at table 1 in this doc:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/small-business-500-series-stackable-managed-switches/c78-695646_data_sheet.html

Specifically the section titled "Stack Connection Options" and "Supported SFP/SFP+ Modules". You'll want an SFP that is for the type of fibre you have (multi mode or single mode) and the speed you want.

If instead of wanting to "stack" switches you instead just want to uplink another switch/s to your existing stack, then any switch will do this.
