Windows 8.1 Desktop Recording Software

Hi,

Can somebody please Recommend any Windows 8.1 Desktop Recording Software? I have a web based course coming up and I could like to record it if possible.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I found Snag-it by Techsmith is very good for both desktop recording and screen capture.

I've been using High Criteria's Total Recorder Professional Edition for many years:

I've used it on many versions of Windows, including 8.1. It's not free, but at $36 USD/CAD is reasonably priced:

For your purposes, the Standard Edition may be fine and it is just $18 USD/CAD:

You may compare the features here:

As a disclaimer, I want to emphasize that I have no affiliation with this company and no financial interest in it whatsoever. I am simply a happy user/customer.

If you want software that's free, lots of experts here at EE (and elsewhere) recommend Audacity:

It's probably excellent, based on the favorable comments I've seen, but I don't use it myself because I'm very satisfied with Total Recorder. Regards, Joe

I have been using Open Broadcaster Software (https://obsproject.com/) recently. Its open source so free. I have been using to so I can layer windows/inputs including my webcam so training videos etc. and its a goo alternative. Works on Windows 7/8/8,1 and 10

Thanks

Camtasia Studio (free but full trial available), or CamStudio.  Also Camtasia Studio has a much better editor.
