How can i force email to the outside domain address?

Hi,

We have an SBS 2011 and on the this server we have 2 exchange domain names.
Company A.nl and Company B.nl

We have move the company B.nl to the cloud(mailboxes) but keeping the mailboxes on the old server.
We have change the MX record pointing to the cloud.

People outside the server sending email to Company B.nl is no problem, email goes to the cloud.
But people (Company A.nl)  inside the server (SBS 2011) email does not go outside the server but goes to mailbox of company B.nl in the SBS 2011 instead to the cloud.

Is there a way to tell the server that email what goes to Company B.nl have to go to the cloud?

This is default behavior as you have mentioned B.nl domain as accepted in Exchange organization. so internally your e-mails will go to your on-premise Exchange.

From outside it is working intact as you have pointed MX to cloud.

Now what you can do, create a send connector in your on-premise Exchange server mentioning that e-mail is going to *.b.nl will go to smart host (smart host will be mx of your cloud) and you will have to set b.nl accepted domain to Internal Relay rather Authoritative domain.

You basically need to get rid of company B from your domain. Remove all mailboxes, email address policies related to company B, accepted domain settings. Once you clean up company B. Exchange will start sending to internet or cloud mailboxes.

Thank you for the info.
Email still going to the local mailbox and not to the cloud.

We want to keep the mailbox's because the users still want to verify the old mailbox's on the server.

Sometimes it may take time to replicate changes org. wide wait for sometime. Keep your accepted domain for B.nl as Internal Relay and keep send connector created with smart host of Office 365 mx record which is provided to you.

Without removing company B email address exchange won't be able to send outside. Do this change email address to a xyz address on company B mailboxes. This way you can keep old mailbox. Test on one user first.

Hi,

Your first solution was working setup a new connector.
The problem was that when i create a new mail in outlook, i use the name of local address book and the email is going to the local mailbox.
but when i manual typing the email address, the mail is going outside the server.

The problem is solve, thank you.
