Point a FQDN to a sub-page of an existing website

I have a client who is wanting to register a new domain name, however instead of it directing to a dedicated site they would like to have it direct to a sub-page of their existing site. What I need to know is if this is possible/how to accomplish it?

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

They have a 3rd party hosting the page, I am their onsite IT support so other than consulting on the process the only direct involvement I have is changing DNS records.

DNS doesnt no about HTTP so you cant redirect your new site to old site based on page. But yes you can redirect the new site to old site. you will need to create A reocord or CNAME for the new site to point to old site

I believe this is what you want even though you have accepted the answer you may want to take another look.  This is a root domain and DNS will not redirect to a specific page,

put a single page at the site root of the new domain

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; URL='http://new-website.com/page.php'" />
