SharePoint 2013 Form -- Can a browser cause field sizes to display incorrectly or differently?

I have a Calendar List and I'm using the standard SharePoint form for adding/editing the data.  I have added a 'Lookup' field named  EMPLOYEE to the form but for SOME (only 2 now) people, that field displays at about 1/4" wide (see attached document for image).   I thought this might be a browser issue as it only happens on their computers.  However, it happens whether they are using Chrome, Firefox or IE.   Perhaps there is a setting in SharePoint or on the form that may be causing this for a few people.

On the attached document, I have 2 screenshots -- the first shows the 'very narrow' field -- the second shows the field correctly.

Has anyone had this happen before?  If so, were you able to figure out what caused it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

The 'PERMISSIONS' on the list that this Lookup Field was referencing did not include some of the users.  Once I added them to the list with 'read only' permissions, the field size returned to normal and they were able to select the correct value.
