How to upgrade to VMware ESXi 6.0?

This is using VMware ESXi Hypervisor 5. The whole structure includes 2 ESXi hosts, 1 vCenter, with SAN and numerous vmware clients. There is a management request to upgrade the whole structure to ESXi version 6, how to do it. Please show step-by-step.

Thanks,

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I've written many EE Articles tutorials, step by step with instructions....as for ESXi hosts, these can be upgraded in three different methods, offline upgrade, via ISO, or via VUM.

But before you do ANY ESXi upgrades, you need to ensure you have the licenses for 6.0, and also upgrade your vCenter Server to 6.0, also check your current hardware is on the HCL and certified for 6.0!

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your advice to upgrade from ESXi 6.0.0.GA to 6.0.0.b.

However, I read your article on how to upgrade from vCenter 5.5 to 6.0., and in the article, you mentioned have to download a iso file called VMware-VIMSetup-all-6.0.0-2656757.iso.

btw, where can I download this iso file?
