Exchange 2013 & RDS Certificate

Hello,

I have a small deployment with one Exchange 2013 server and one Remote Desktop Services server both on Server 2012R2

I have a SAN certificate from GoDaddy on the mail server and the common name is mail.domain.com and it’s got a SAN name of remote.domain.com.

if I export it from the Exchange server and import it onto the RDS Server will I get certificate mismatch errors for the remote desktop clients?

Or should I purchase a separate SSL certificate for remote.domain.com and have one certificate for the RDS Server and continue with the SAN cert for mail server?

Your thoughts are appreciated.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Yes, you will need a new certificate as you cannot use a certificate which has a different name for the remote service.
You will get mismatch errors if using a different certificate and will not be trusted.

For exchange you might be using UCC SSL certificate but the same certificate also you can use it for RDS too. You need to generate fresh CSR for RDS and get duplicate certificate with remote.domain.com as common name. Then you can import to RDS and that will not throw certificate mismatch errors.

I doubt whether UCC certificate supported by RDS.
