Tls encryption

It's there a way to force TLS encryption between us and a partner domain via a SmartHost without having to route direct?

I'm aware this can also be configured @ the message labs side..

Environment

Site 1
2x multirole exchange

Site 2
1x multirole exchange

Smart host - Message Labs

Yes, you can do this via enabling Mutual TLS. Review this KB:

You need to coordinate with your partner company to set this up. Certificate plays key role in setting this up.

This mentions the use of a edge server which we don't have, can I do this on a multirole server like the following

Create a TLS enforced send connector which has only partner domains in its address space and enable domainsecureenabled

Then have a non TLS send connector for everything else..

Both will route to messagelabs

Yes, you can do this way also. I don't have edge server, I doing using brightmail gateway.

Just tried this and domainsecureenabled cannot be set to true unless dnsroutingenabled is also set to true. By the looks of things I either send direct and avoid messagelabs or perform the TLS there

I reviewed setting at my end. It is set on Brightmail gateway. You can also use message labs for TLS. Opportunistic TLS for outbound is normally enabled.

Hi,

So you have a send connector configured on a hub/multi role server (not edge) that uses smart host AND Domain Secure?

I have come to the conclusion that the configuration i am looking for is not available without a Edge server. Setting the DomainSecured parameter is only available if DNSRouting is enabled
