How to setup VMware vcenter for 2 hosts?
These are using 2 VMware esxi 5.0 hosts. We are intended to setup a vcenter (2k8 based windows), shall we use vcenter 5.0? or can we use vcenter 5.5. I ever tried to setup v5.0 vcenter, but failed to get it up. The problem being, IIS was detected installed, so during the web client setup, I changed port https/http ports to 9443 & 9090. As during the vcenter installation, ports changed as follows:
https: 8443
http: 8080
heartbeat: 902
webservices http: 8090
webservices https: 8091
webservices change service notification port: 60099
ldap: 389
ssl: 636
Now, I can't even browse the web client > https://localhost:9443/admin-app. I saw all vmware services are running.
please help, thanks.

Hi Andrew,
Does this mean vcenter server 5.5 can support ESXi host 5.0?
I don't mind using VCSA, but a question is: Does VCSA support HA for 2 hosts?

The expert - Andrew provide few great articles that led to the problem solving on vcenter setup.
I would not install vCenter Server on any server, which has anything currently running, including IIS. Is this a virtual server ? Do you have another server you could setup, or use the Linux Appliance (VCSA) and take the headache out of it, saved a WIndows OS license!
HOW TO: Install and Configure VMware vSphere vCenter Server 5.5 for Windows
HOW TO: Install and Configure VMware vSphere vCenter Server 6.0 for Windows
Have you considered using the Linux Appliance ? (VCSA), much easier now to install and get running.
