Vlan 1 on Layer 2 Swicthes

I would like to know if Layer 2 Switches have the Default VLAN 1 interface. if so can we assign IP address to it? or can we create a new Vlan interface on Layer 2 switches ?

I thought Vlan interfaces are available only with Layer 3 Switches ?

Thanks

The default VLAN 1 interface comes with no IP address, so I still can assign IP address to it?

In L2 switches, can I create other Vlan Interfaces on each VLAN ,in Addition to the default VLAN1 interface and assign IP addresses  to them? if so what is the purpose of creating Vlan interfaces on each Vlan and assign IP addresses to them, if Layer 2 Switches do not support IP Routing between VLANs on the same switch ?

I have not heard of L2+ switches, just L2 and L3

Speaking about L2, if I understood your statement we can assign IP address to the default VLAN1 interface but we cannot create additional VLAN interfaces.. correct ?
