Password protect Outlook OST file

How can I password protect my Outlook 2013 .OST file?
Is there any way to do this like I did with the .PST file?
If not, is there any reason I cannot convert my .OST to a .PST?
Password protecting my Windows user account is not enough.
Thanks, Doug

There is no way to password protect your OST file.

You can convert an OST to a PST, but when you run Outlook in cached mode, another one will be created with no password protection.

You can encrypt your drive with BitLocker  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/bitlocker-drive-encryption-overview

Your other option is to run Outlook in online mode and not have an OST file.

Since you can't password lock your OST file, it may be easier to create a new PST file with a password and transfer the files from your OST over to the PST.

Open Outlook 2013 and click File in the Top Ribbon. Click Outlook data file (.pst) and Click OK. Name the File and Click OK to save it.  Check the box below the name to add a password.
