Cifs path showing wrong to users

HI ,

The users are seeing the path wrong. Its a CIFS share on Netapp.
Correct path is : \\abc\dfsroots\op\vol2\oprtions\Budget-Performance\Staff\OTPS & Budget\Budget\OT Variance Reports\2014
Incorrect Path: \\abc\dfsroots\dfsroots\op\vol2\oprtions\Budget-Performance\Staff\OTPS & Budget\Budget\OT Variance Reports\2014

I wonder why dfsroots are coming twice.
Please Advice!

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Where do you have the share originating and is the root share hidden? We use the DFS Namespace, but "dfsroots" never show up. That said, we do not use a NetApp, but an EMC Isilon, so there may be a difference in how they function.

My Shares are created on Netapp controllers. The path I mentioned is not a physical path it is the reference path for the users. generally in reference path it shows dfsroots but the problem is why dfsroots showing twice.

Due to this all the entries made in the shares are changed and it happens randomly.
Rodney BarnhardtServer AdministratorCommented:
You may want to perform some test against your namespace config using the "DFSDiag"

DFSDiag /TestDFSConfig /DFSRoot:\\domain-name\namspace

The other one may be the referral of the clients
DFSDiag /TestReferral /DFSpath:\\domain-name\namspace

Any Help!

No luck yet. I tried to create shortcut to the path but it also doesn't helped.
Rodney BarnhardtServer AdministratorCommented:
Did you run the diags I suggested to see if the namespace is healthy?
Techie solutionVMware SpecialistAuthor Commented:
Where should I run this command?
Sorry but I am new to this.
Rodney BarnhardtServer AdministratorCommented:
On the server that host the name space, launch an elevated command prompt and issued the commands there.
Techie solutionVMware SpecialistAuthor Commented:
This is not particularly on a server. It is CIFS share which is created on a Netapp and shared between all the users.
Rodney BarnhardtServer AdministratorCommented:
How are  you publishing the namespace? Since you mentioned DFS, I was assuming that this was in regards to a DFS namespace publishing. This is typically configured and provided on a DC. How do the clients receives the path\namespace?
Techie solutionVMware SpecialistAuthor Commented:
It is domain based namespace.
\\ABC\dfsroots\op\vol2\oprtions\Budget-Performance\Staff\OTPS & Budget

ABC is the Domain.
Rodney BarnhardtServer AdministratorCommented:
Yes, but even on NetApp's site, their documentation states the namespace is published from a Windows server. This may be your problem since the way it is configured there could be the issue.

The link below should explain how to locate which server is hosting the namespace. You need to locate that server.
