ProLiant Factory Reset ILO Fan Noise
Hi,
I wondered if anyone else has had this before, I've been doing some maintanince on a number of ProLiant Servers and one of the tasks is to setup ILO etc, I've had todo a factory reset on a few ILOs but I've noticed when you do a factory reset on the ILO the fan noise on the servers go crazy and wont clear until you reboot the server.
Has anyone else come across this before and if so does anyone know why resetting the ILO port causes this?

It lasts for some 5 minutes and then goes back to normal. it happens with firmware updates too. Nothing to worry, just dress earplugs and go ahead.

I did a few of these and didnt last for 5 mins, would go on for hours until its rebooted.
Do you reset system BIOS too? I think it enters some windows-controlled fan mode, i.e fans up until windows chills them.
Fan control depends on which generation, earlier ones needed Windows iLO driver to control it but it's all in hardware now without the driver taking part. Still down to iLO though since it's also the BMC.
