SharePoint Naming Convention

Good day,

I have a requirement from a client to use a certain naming convention when documents are uploaded onto SharePoint.

Depending on the metadata they choose I can calculate a document for example like this:
ALD_KPS_COP_001

I can do use using a workflow quire easily, the problem is the client wants the number to start at 001 if the metadata is different. I currently use the Item ID to assign the number which always counts from 1 up. Please see below some examples:

ALD_KPS_COP_001
ALD_KPS_COP_002
ALD_KPS_STD_001
ALD_KPS_STD_002
ALD_KPS_PRO_001

What possibilities are there to achieve this?
jquery Rest API??

Thank you

Don't use the ID column. You have no control over. Create an additional column used for your naming / numbering convention. Use a calculated column maybe, or possibly a workflow to get the number to be what you want it to be.

Hope that helps

Thanks, I managed to get this working by using the Presave function in SharePoint and using Rest API to get the list information...this is still work in progress and will post the complete answer when I am done.
