vm nice on oses

we have hundreds of vms that use the e1000

is there a script or better way to capture the ipsettings

static ip
mask
gateway

dns
dns

and then remove e1000 and add vxnet3 and plug in the appropriate settings. and do the same thing if one or more nice are present and set as e1000

is there a script to do this automatically

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

This can be done without a script using vCenter Server, or you can do this with RV Tools from here

http://www.robware.net/

This will allow you to get the IP information from VMs, into a list, for export to excel.

the following will replace E1000 with VMXNET3

Get-VM -name "<VMName>" | Get-NetworkAdapter | Where { $_.Type -eq "E1000"} | Set-NetworkAdapter -Type "vmxnet3"

Open in new window

where VMName is the name of the VM in the inventory.

you can use this article to restore the TCP/IP settings
