when recording a long video screen session on camstudio

i recorded a long 4 hr screen session on camstudio, but at the end of it, It did not respond, and In trying to revive it, it crashed and lost it all. (before starting this, I tested it for a 2 minute trial and it did work ok)..

does this imply system resource issue on the pc part (RAM etc)..

(if relevant, when camastia was on this machine, even 2-3 hrs video were indeed recorded..)

You have plenty system resources.

Camstudio records a 2GB maximum file size limit for avi files for regular players.
That is why it loses the whole session if file size exceeds 2GB

To work around this, choose your video and audio codecs carefully and keep the amount of screen area you want to record to the minimum you need to keep below 2GB

2+ GB Avi recording will not open with regular players.
But MediaCoder can help you to open files bigger that 2GB

Cam Studio records raw/lossless avi,
a 4 hour long video at full screen would run into a huge amount of gigs could be even 100 of gigs.
Anything over 2 gigs can cause problems
Camatasia Studio records different.
I would suggest to you not to use Cam Studio for long recordings more than 10 minutes,  don't use full screen instead choose region and make that nearly full screen, cam studio can also export to SWF that is smaller.
Also set it not to play once rendered.
How to use SWF
