Creating Distribution groups
Hi,
I am trying to create an distribution group called "grants" could you tell me why i am getting this message...please see picture attached.

In the screenshot you provided, it is already present user mailuser OU. With name grants. You can have only unique value in AD.

What this is saying is there is an account or group in AD already with the name "grants." My bet would be you have a user whose name is G Rants (like Gregg Rants). This would obviously be based on your naming convention. But the above is accurate in that you either need to get rid of the account/group (probably not the best idea) or change the name of this group/list.

Note that, SamAccountName and Alias properties will not matter for end users. They will always look at DisplayName
One more suggestion would be, you can also change the values for conflicing object under MailUser OU, so that its conflicting SamAccountName and Name values are different than Grants.
