Error moving a folder from Outlook mailbox to online archive

My mailbox is in Office 365 Exchange Online. I am using Outlook 2013 in cached-exchange mode. When I drag and drop a folder from my mailbox to my online archive I get an error message, nut, the folder does move, although an empty copy is left in my mailbox which I then have to delete. I attached a screenshot of the error message.

Other users have told me that they cannot drag and drop a folder from their mailbox to their online archive.

Can someone tell me what Microsoft's stance is on this? I have found conflicting and confusing information online.

Also, is there a limit to the size of a folder that I can drag and drop into my archive?

Thank you

Instead of dragging, try using right-click and the Move to menu. Also, this operation is not instantaneous as the archive is always accessible in Online mode and the data needs to be sent do the server.

Much better way to do this is to configure the archiving policy on the folder and/or specific items, so that the server does the job of moving items to your archive instead. To do so, select the folder (or item) and use the Assign Policy button on the Ribbon. After the server processes the mailbox, it will note the new archiving tag and will start moving items to the archive.

I understand it is not instantaneous. But that does not explain the error message I get and I get the error regardless of whether I drag and drop or right-click move.

Retention tags and polices are currently useless for moving email to the archive as they apply to all items in the mailbox, not just email messages. So if I create a retention tag to move emails older that say 90 days to the archive, it will move not just emails, but appointments, tasks, notes etc. We have been waiting for Microsoft to "fix" this retention tag "bug" for a while.

Also, sometimes users want to move specific folders to their archive.
