Looking for an Exchange Server product to filter internal emails. Block attaching certain attachment types.

I'm running an Exchange 2003 server (no laughing PLEASE) with a Sonicwall NSA 3500.  I'm using Sonicwall's Anti-Spam currently.

I have been recently tasked with blocking or stripping attachments of certain file type.  Specifically images, .JPG, .TIF, etc.

I have started looking at cloud based security product like McAfee SaaS email protection and an appliance such as Sonicwall's ESA 3300.  These will block or strip images incoming and outgoing attachments that are images.  But I was wondering if anyone had any decent suggestions on how I might accomplish this locally on Exchange.

Another words strip or block an internal person from sending another internal person a .JPG.

I know Anti-Virus products usually do this, but is there something lighter weight or better that might include blocking offensive language, sexual language, etc.  Basically similar to what McAfee & Sonicwall offer but for local emails.

Thank you.

Unfortunately there is no built in feature in Exchange 2003 to be able to meet your requirement so you would have to rely on 3rd party products for attachment stripping.

I have used gfi/exclaimer and symantec mail security for exchange to achieve similar requirement in the past.

Spaz_IT & Satyendra Sharma,

Thank you so much for your prompt reply.  I split the points between both of you as you both answered my question and gave me multiple good product suggestions.

Also Satyendra - thank you for the additional info that Exchange 2003 does not have any built in solution.  That saves me time from researching that issue!

Thank you both.. have a great day!
